Bhalukpong

Nature has blessed Assam with abundance of scenic grandeur. Few other places in India look as fresh and vibrant as Assam with so of beautiful and attractive tourists spots that conquers ones heart and soul. One such place is Bhalukpung. Bhalukpung is situated on the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh on Assam border. Bhalukpung lies on the way to Bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh. Bhalukpung was the capital of Bhaluka. Bhaluka was the grandson of King Bana. Bhalukpung is at a distance of 56 km from Tezpur town. Bhalukpung is under the foot of beautiful Aka Hills situated in Arunachal Pradesh. Bhalukpung is known for its unique natural beauty. Bhalukpung is a beautiful and charming picnic spot. Bhalukpung is also famous for angling and river rafting. Far from this busy world Bhalukpung is a place of peace and tranquility. Mystic blue hills and evergreen forests surround Bhalukpung and therefore Bhalukpung is famous for its scenic natural beauty. There are great opportunities for anglers in Bhalukpung. The river Jia-Bhoroli  is the best place for Golden Mahseer angling. Other attractions of Bhalukpung are a hot spring, a big orchid garden at Tipi and the unspoilt beauty of nature. The nearest river Jia Bhoroli fascinates the anglers. It is the natural habitat of the Golden Mahsheer, the dream catch of angler. Besides, Masheer, one can catch other game fishes like 'Boka', 'Sal' and occasionally the dreaded 'Gorua' - the fresh water shark.
PLACES OF TOURIST INTEREST NEARBY BHALUKPUNG:
1.Tippi in Arunachal Pradesh which has one of the biggest Archid Research Centre of Northeast Region. Tippi is at a distance of 7 km from Bhalukpung.
2.Tawang Monastry in Arunachal Pradesh is famous because it is one of the oldest monastry of Buddhist religion. The actual distance between Tawang and Bhalukpung is 130 km.
3.Mahabhorali river near Bhalukpung is famous for fishing. National and international level fishing competition held here every year.
4.One can also visit Kaziranga National Park, which is famous for one-horned rhinos all over the world. Kaziranga National Park is at a distance of 135 km from Bhalukpung and one will definitely love to visit Kaziranga for experiencing the wildlife.
5.Nameri National Park: Near the Jia-Bhoroli river the Nameri National Park is home to the Mithun and the rare White Winged Wood Duck. The best way to travel within the park is on elephants.
HOW TO GET THERE: The nearest railhead is situated at Guwahati and the nearest railway station is at Tezpur. Bhalukpung is 250 km from Guwahati and 60 km from Tezpur and is well connected with the two cities by road. In order to reach Bhalukpung one can hire Tata Sumo from Tezpur ASTC bus stand. Mini buses ply regularly to Bhalukpung from Tezpur.
WHERE TO STAY: For comfortable stay there is a Tourist Lodge run by Directorate of Tourism, Government of Assam. There is also an Eco-Camp at Potasali, which is run by Anglers Club.
